IP address (or Internet Protocol address) is a numerical address of your device network connection. Basically, it's a set of rules that serves as a way of your device identification on the internet.
You can compare Internet protocols with postal services in the real world.
The postal code is the identifier for mail routing. And, in very simple terms, an IP address is a numeric postal code used for Internet traffic routing. Every device, website and web server has an IP address.
There are two general standards for IP addresses: IPv4 (IP version 4) and IPv6 (IP version 6), which are intended to replace IPv4 in the future.
